INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
STEP 1 – TESTING THE PANEL Press the sun-shaped button. The LED will light up when the panel receives sufficient daylight to produce power.
STEP 2 – MOUNTING Position the solar panel where you would like it to be permanently installed.
Angle the panel in such a way that it will be perpendicular to the strong midday sun, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. This will change with the seasons. In spring and the fall a tilt between 40 and 45 degrees from the ground will suffice for most North American residents. A little less in the summer (about 20 - 30 degrees) and a little more in the winter (about 60 - 70 degrees from the ground).
Insert each mounting screw and tighten carefully. Do not over-tighten.
STEP 3 – CONNECTION Remove the connector caps before connecting the cables. Connect the solar panel to the battery using one of the included connection options: the cigarette lighter adapter, the battery-clamps or the O-rings. For the last two options make sure to connect the red clamp to the plus pole and the black clamp to the minus-pole of the battery. If needed use the included 10-foot extension cable.
